The last time I visited Benguet was when I'm still working as a Project Manager in a company located in Ortigas, particularly in Tektite Building. It was Ate Cecille's request as her birthday gift from our boss. So everyone who is part of the certification program was included. During that time, the most visited was Sagada and Sumaguing Cave. That time I was only able to step, literally step on Baguio because that is where we are going to get our ride to Sagada. So technically speaking I never really had the chance to check what's in Baguio.
June 24. My vacation was approved and I get to visit Baguio with the #TravelNowPayLater care of my sister. LOL. Our dad was also with us but for him who doesn't really want to go to Baguio, he said that he'll be tired of walking and commuting. He said, give me 5000 and I will travel with you guys. My sister haggled with him, aside from the all expense paid trip, he agreed with the + 2000 pocket money. Hahaha
We arrived around 6am so basically we're so early for check-in which is 11AM, good thing my sister was a regular visitor of the city so she knows someone who works for Ina Mansion, and accommodated our things while we're waiting for Burnham Suites. My sister originally planned to stay in Ina Mansion but there's no available room for us, so my sister's contact suggested Burnham Suites.
Burnham Suites was a hotel / residential building. We rented the studio type unit. I liked almost everything except for the pillow covers and the access to the TV, there's no battery for remote control. We all know that men likes watching news especially at night, so my father missed the 2 nights worth of news. What I like the most about the unit was the scent of the room, I don't know if someone is spraying something inside while were not there because every time we get back to the unit the smell is just so fresh! The unit has induction cooker, electric kettle, fridge, rice cooker and a lot of pans. So you can cook! We did that during the last morning because our trip going back to Manila was 1pm.
After we left our things in Ina Mansion, we ride a cab going to the nearest open restaurant or food chain, which is Jollibee. Hahaha. I can't imagine that I'm going to eat in Jollibee while in Baguio, (well we all have the will-try-authentic food whenever we're on different place) well my father's really hungry so no choosy moment especially it was really early. By the way, I got the chance to experience the attitude of the cab drivers, they are known for NOT keeping the change, they will really give it to you. Cab drivers in the metro are not like that, they always have this line "wala po akong barya" reason for not giving exact change.
We headed to Km. 4, Barangay Balili, La Trinidad Benguet. This is where the colorful houses are located. It was really a great idea painting the houses with lovely colors. My father also had a chance to talk with a local and he was the one who told us that we can also climb to houses with MEDIA banners across the street. Those are great spots to take pictures of the Stonehill community.
Here's the panoramic view from one of the media location: (forgive me for the ray of sun) :))
